Financial Aid

The Canadian College of Performing Arts believes in providing affordable education to deserving students based on their talent and ability to succeed in a professional career in the performing arts.

Internal Aid

  • The Canadian Heritage Arts Society (CHAS) offers a limited number of needs-based bursaries, which will be applied directly to tuition, for students needing financial assistance to pursue their studies. Every CCPA student (domestic and international) can apply to the bursary program. Bursaries are given at the discretion of the Bursary Committee, which operates at arms-length from CHAS and CCPA and will not know the identity of the applicant. Applications are accepted in August (for term one) and December (for term two).
  • CCPA offers several casual employment opportunities for students. To be considered for on-campus employment you must complete the application form that will be provided in the Financial Information Package that will be e-mailed in the month of July.
  • Every student (domestic and international) is eligible for the merit-based award program that rewards students for achievements and outstanding efforts in their studies, awarded by a committee of faculty members based on work throughout the school year. 
  • Students are encouraged to inquire in the fall about scholarships with internal application processes that may require an essay component. 
  • Scholarships and awards are awarded annually. Examples of available awards and their criteria are below.

Edith Ling Award for Voice
Awarded for outstanding achievement in voice.

Derksen McClure Memorial Award
Awarded for outstanding musical merit.

Odermatt Family Award for Dance
Awarded for outstanding achievement in dance.

Betty Wilkinson Award for Drama
Awarded to a student for achievement in acting in Year 1 and Year 2

Founders Award for Musical Theatre
Awarded for outstanding achievement in musical theatre.

Adamthwaite Spirit of Generosity award
Awarded to the student who best demonstrates from his or her actions the qualities of strength, compassion, generosity, selflessness, citizenship & humour.

Puente Theatre Scholarship
This award is to support diversity and multiculturalism in the arts. It is awarded to a student striving for excellence who is connected to the immigrant experience either through his/her family or because of a special interest in multiculturalism and the performing arts.

Oak Bay Kiwanis Award
Awarded to a student who demonstrates promise to succeed by their leadership in their community, in their college, and in their studies.

External Aid

  • The college is a designated Private Training Institution, and Canadian students are eligible for student loans in every region. Applications are available in June. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, and including the results of your student loan application is a requirement of your Financial Assistance Application form. Contact your provincial student financial assistance office for more information.
  • The college encourages students to seek out additional funding through their provincial arts council, their local community service organizations, and through the guidance/career education department of the institution they are currently attending.

The College is happy to provide letters of support to assist students applying for assistance from service clubs, foundations, provincial or federal grants upon request.
